Tuki mourns demise of PR Kyndiah

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today deeply mourned the demise of former Union Minister and Congress leader Paty Ripple Kyndiah, who breathed his last on 26th March at Shillong.

“My association with Late Kyndiah dates back to many years and I was always inspired by his unwavering commitment to the cause of the welfare of the people, particularly those from the North Eastern Region. His passing away is a personal loss for me,” said Tuki in a condolence message.

“During his long innings in public life, Late Kyndiah displayed a lot of affection for the people from my state of Arunachal Pradesh. I cannot forget his initiative and leadership which resulted in the landmark decision of changing the tribal nomenclature from the derogatory Dafla to Nyishi in the Constitution of India. The people of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly those from the Nyishi community will always be indebted to him for resolving this longstanding issue.”

He will be remembered for his statesmanship which helped him successfully discharge his duties in high public offices as Governor of Mizoram, Union Minister handling the critical portfolios of Tribal Affairs and Development of North Eastern Region, Member of Parliament, among others. He was a true Congressman who believed strongly in the ideals of the Indian National Congress Party. He will be remembered for his significant contributions to public life in the times to come.

The CM conveyed condolences to the members of his bereaved family and pray for his soul to rest in eternal peace.

Natung calls on Union Minister

NEW DELHI, Mar 28: Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism, Mama Natung called on the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism, Mahesh Sharma yesterday and briefed him about the ongoing initiatives of Arunachal Tourism for a holistic development of the sector. While appreciating Sharma for his ministry’s ever supportive attitude towards the state, Natung also requested the minister that projects which could not be sanctioned last year due to fund constrains or other reasons should be included in this year’s prioritized list.

While giving a patient hearing, the Union Minister appreciated efforts of Arunachal Tourism and promised his whole-hearted support. The Minister is also visiting Arunachal Pradesh on April 11 which would be a reminder of the prime place the state holds in the growing Indian tourism scenario.

When invited by Parliamentary Secretary to attend the three days Tawang Festival which will be held from May 1 next, the Union Tourism Minister replied affirmatively saying that he is very keen to visit the state. Natung was accompanied by Adong Moyong, Resident Tourism Officer. (OSD IPR)

ASMs react

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: The PDS items are being supplied to each regulated Fair Price Shops in entire Sarli and Parsi-Parlo since new carriage contractors were assigned the task, claimed a group of ASMs while reacting to a news item published in a section of local daily opposing release of HTS bills.

Regarding road connectivity, the ASMs further said that roads from Koloriang to Sarli and from bridge point to Parsi-Parlo is yet to be declared completed and suitable for transportation of all goods including PDS items. Supply of PDS items at different FPS are being verified and certified by FPS holders/block level vigilance committees, the ASMs further said while requesting the concerned department not to entertain allegations regarding PDS.

District TB-HIV co-ordination committee meeting held

ZIRO, Mar 28: The district TB-HIV Co-ordination Committee meeting of Lower Subansiri district was held here recently.

Chairing the meeting, DMO Dr. Moli Riba insisted on submission of monthly performance reports regularly to keep track of the disease effectively. He also suggested increasing the cross referral from ICTC and asked the staff to maintain punctuality.

The DMO further asked the NGO partner Tarbudale Multipurpose Coop. Society to ensure proper coordination in programme implementation. A PowerPoint presentation on district performance on TB/HIV collaborative activities was later displayed. The meeting was attended by Dr Kuru Tama MO in-charge ICTC, Dr Hage Nibo, DTO Lakshmi Lama Project Manager, TDMPCS and other staff of ICTC and DTC.

Army health camp benefits more than 200

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: Around 220 people, including old and young, of remote Jangdha and Sho villages have availed the opportunity of a health camp conducted by 24 Grenadiers of Indian Army at their door step yesterday. Moreover, 40 domestic animals were also treated in the dual camp which was organized at the helipad located at 9000 feet above sea level.

A comprehensive survey was also carried out by the unit Army doctor to assess the medical and nutritional needs of the two villages and medicines distributed to the needy patients.

The Army also organized talks, career counseling and awareness meetings on health and hygiene and sanitation practices during the day long programme.

The camp was inaugurated by Col MP Celestine, Officiating Brigade Commander 40 Mountain Brigade.

The Commanding Officer, 24 Grenadiers has also responded positively to the request of the Gaon Burah to conduct such health camp regularly in their villages in future.

3rd NESKFI North East Karate Championship

Arunachal Pradesh dominate day-1

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: Arunachal Pradesh dominated the opening day of the 3rd NESKFI North East Karate Championship, 2015 being held at R.G. Baruah Sports Complex, with 15 players winning 16 medals, including eight Golds.

Tame Ani, Yame Gyadi, Bumi Nuk, Minam Tekseng and Tony Mugli won one gold medal each in Kumite while Raja Yangfo, Chopa Tallo and Tamchi Nancy won one gold medal each in Kata event.

Tame Ani also won a silver medal in Kata in below 9 years category.

Other medal winning players are Achem Yun (silver) in kata, Simon Megu (silver) in kata, Anjame Mipi (silver) in kumite, Yanung Gamnu (silver) in Kumite, S.Santosh (bronze) in Kata, Nabam Nasap (silver) in kumite, and Kiochu Nayam (bronze) in kumite, informed Arunachal Karate Do Association.

The championship is organized by United Karate Do Association, Assam.

ASM rejects CE claim

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: The Anchal Samity Member (ASM) of Mechukha has out rightly rejected the press statement issued by CE (EZ), Department of Hydropower Development regarding power scenario of Mechukha, the sub-divisional headquarters, saying the statement was misleading and not based on facts.

The CE in his recent statement claimed that 80 percent of the restoration works of the damaged spillway channel of Lhallung Mini Hydel Station (2x250 kw) at Mechukha have been completed so far and the entire work is likely to be completed by the end April next.

According to ASM K L Mosing, the restoration works were progressing at a snail’s pace, and hardly 20 percent of the work has been completed so far. The works are being undertaken by the villagers and no departmental engineers are currently there in the work site to oversee the restoration works, the ASM alleged.

In regards to Mechukha Mini Hydel Station (6 x 25 KW), the ASM claimed that the MHS is currently generating and supplying only 20 kw electricity to Mechukha Township that too sporadically.

The ASM urged the CE to make personal inspection of the work site rather than making such misleading press statement.

Meanwhile, Neh-Nang Cultural Development Society has appealed to the authority concerned of Power Department to improve power scenario by immediately restoring the defunct MHSs.

Describing the problem faced by the people, especially students, due to acute power shortage, the society said that daily life of the people in Mechukha has come to a standstill.

Training for SHGs on bookkeeping

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: Rural Development Society organized training on book keeping for Self Help Groups (SHGs) at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Polo Colony Naharlagun today sponsored by National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD).

The SHG members were trained on record keeping and book of account such as cash book, bank book etc by resource persons drawn from from Central Bank of India Naharlagun Branch and NABARD Itanagar.

The resource persons also made them aware of the importance of financial maintenances and its benefit for growth of SHGs. Experts in banking system explained in detail about SHG saving rules and procedures.

Rebia visit remote Lao village

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: Arunachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly Speaker and local MLA Nabam Rebia visited Lao yesterday.

Rebia interacted with villagers and highlighted developmental activities in remote Lao village bordering East Kameng District.

He urged upon the local villagers to explore agriculture and horticulture avenues. He also visited the confluence of Lao, Lafa and Dishing rivers to explore the tourism potentiality and feasibility of rafting adventure from confluence of three rivers to Bikalmukh in Assam-Arunachal border.

Rebia advised the people to preserve flora and fauna and asked them to prevent indiscriminate fishing, hunting and deforestation and to create eco friendly environment for all future generation.

Pema dedicates wayside amenities cum cafeteria to people

TAWANG, Mar 28: In yet another boost for tourism sector in Tawang, Minister for Tourism, Urban Development and Art & Culture etc. Pema Khandu inaugurated the ‘wayside amenities cum cafeteria’ in a simple function at Nuranang on March 26.

Executed by RWD Tawang, the three-storey building is located 14 kms away from Sela Pass and boasts of eight spacious and luxurious rooms, a cafeteria. The ‘wayside amenities cum cafeteria’ will also bring solace to the passengers who get stranded in the region during winter due to heavy snowfall and face severe fooding and lodging problems. Arunachal Vision 2030: Steering Group resolves to engage sector specific experts

NEW DELHI, Mar 28: In pursuance of the Cabinet decision, the first Consultation of the Steering Group on Arunachal Vision 2030 was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki at New Delhi today. The Steering Group members include former Governor General JJ Singh, former members of the Planning Commission B K Chaturvedi and Saumitra Chaudhuri, State’s Chief Secretary and Secretary Planning. The Steering Group is the apex body which will guide the formulation of the Arunachal Vision 2030 document.

The Consultation which lasted a marathon three hours deliberated on several significant development and governance issues critical to the formulation and implementation of the Arunachal Vision 2030 document. Arrays of subjects including Railways, Power, Aviation, Tourism etc were discussed at length in the deliberations. The Steering Group was unanimous in its view that sector specific experts should be engaged at the local as well as other levels and that their views and studies included in the Vision Document.

While hailing the occasion as historic, Tuki observed, “The foundation for a prosperous and progressive Arunachal Pradesh for future generations has been laid today. We have embarked on a journey to focus on a realistic and achievable Vision for our beautiful state. With the guidance and support of some of the best minds in the country with their unparalleled experience and love for the people of the state, I am sure that the Arunachal Vision 2030 will steer our State to great heights in the times to come.”

Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi in his opening remarks spoke on the rationale behind the initiative for a Vision Document and highlighted the need to make the State a self sustaining one. He emphasized that while ascertaining inclusive development, the Vision 2030 when implemented should focus on the long term wealth creation by Arunachalee people in Arunachal Pradesh. He spoke on the ways to enhance the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and other economic indicators through an innovative and participatory framework covering all potential sectors.

Negi further pointed that the state has already initiated several reforms and institutional arrangements to boost the rural economy, increase the scope of sustainable urbanization, employment generation and entrepreneurship development, industrialization and investment through special dispensations for Food Processing, IT & Pharma, social security measures among others. In the discussion, former Governor General JJ Singh opined that the geostrategic dimension of the State is unique and therefore, the Vision 2030 should be aligned to this reality.

While mentioning that any vision is not realizable when it is not confronted by the challenges of the day, B.K Chaturvedi emphasized that a solutions based framework should be the underlying principle for realizing the vision. He stressed on segregating dreams from achievable vision however cautioning that easily realizable vision is no vision. Chaturvedi, who has a vast knowledge of the socio-economic and other development aspects of Arunachal Pradesh, outlined his views for improving the infrastructure, health, education and other sectors in a phased manner.

Saumitra Chaudhuri highlighted that any development vision must understand the strengths and weaknesses of the people and the geography in which they live in. He stressed on the need to integrate the aspirations of the people with the unique geography of the state. He mentioned that the Vision should harmonize the welfare of the people with the unique geographical strengths of the state.

Secretary Planning gave a brief presentation on the framework of the Arunachal Vision 2030 and also highlighted the implications of the Fourteenth Finance Commission recommendations for the state.

Tuki expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries for accepting his invitation to be a part of the Steering Group. He gave a historical perspective on the evolution of the State since its inception and opined that any futuristic activity should also be aligned with the lessons from the past.

While discussing sector specific issues of the State, the Chief Minister spoke at length about the development initiatives taken by his Government. He informed that Consultations for Arunachal Vision 2030 with stakeholders’ right from the grassroots would start from next month. The Steering Group will meet for its next meeting at New Delhi on 26th April.

It may be noted that a one day workshop is also being organized on 13th April 2015 on the theme “14th Finance Commission Award and NITI Aayog- Challenges and Opportunities for Arunachal Pradesh” at Itanagar. The participants would include Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs, Secretary/Commissioners, DCs, etc. This workshop will be followed by detailed consultations on the preparation of the Vision Document and Budget for 2015-16 from the third week of April, 2015.

Itanagar Book Fair begins

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: The much awaited Itanagar Book Fair 2015 started today with inauguration of it by Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner, Mige Kamki in presence Batem Pertin, Director Research, Rajeev Chowdhry, Asst. Director, National Book Trust (NBT), India and a host of book lovers at Indira Gandhi Park. There are 55 stalls exhibiting books of around 30 publishers from Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and other cities in the book fair which will come to an end on April 5.

In his inaugural address, Kamki while touting the fair as a fortunate event for the book lovers of the state, especially students, exhorted the youngsters to keep healthy reading habits. “Even in this digital age, the fondness for reading books will remain alive and its charm will not vanish easily. Books can indeed become your best friends”, he added.

In his speech Research Director Pertin highlighted the importance of book fairs in promoting reading habits and their contribution in facilitating easy accessibility of books.

Informing the gathering that NBT had decided to organize the book fair in Itanagar seeing the enthusiasm of the book lovers here, Chowdhury said they were ready to make this an annual event if the response was good. He particularly urged the media to promote the book fair as much as possible so that people could avail the benefits of such book fair.

Reiterating that only active participation from the public can make this fair a grand success, Media Coordinator for the event, Une Pertin informed they would be conducting literary activities in collaboration with APLS as well.

The fair’s first day also witnessed the attendance of eminent personalities like Y.D Thongchi, State Chief Information Commissioner cum President Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society, Bilatee Pertin, Commissioner Land Management and Trade & Commerce, Rajeev Takuk, Mission Director, Arunachal Pradesh Livelihoods Mission, Father Thomas, Vice Principal Don Bosco College who were seen buying books and engrossed in deep conversation with each other, giving the whole place a distinct charm of an ‘intellectual adda’.

Meanwhile, the exhibitions stall of research department was formally inaugurated by Rajeev Takuk, Chief Executive officer, Arunachal State Rural Livelihood Mission. A number of dignitaries and huge number of students, readers have been visiting the stall. Batem Pertin, Director of Research said “Research stall is the destination for all visitors who intend to have authentic data and information on Arunachal Pradesh”

The inaugural function also saw the choir group of Don Bosco College presenting a soulful rendition of “I have a dream”. This was followed by a Nyishi folk dance presentation by the students of the college.

APPDSU questions police integrity, demands Education Minister resignation

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: Raising doubts on the integrity of the state police department, the All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU) has queried the manner it is handling with the 10 percent commission fixation case in education department.

In a press conference held today at Press Club, APPDSU claimed that the police are trying to shield Education Minister Tapang Taloh and his OSD Dr. Ranjan despite the filing of a FIR against both by one Tana Pekhi (complainant) on 18 March 2015. The copies of paper evidences alongwith of voice recorded CD were made available for media persons to substantiate the claim.

Earlier, four persons namely Dubi Ete Lollen, Bimpi Riddi, Tori Gadi and Tame Aking were arrested by the police for allegedly demanding money from Tana Pekhi Tara of Doimukh in connection with the sanctioned amount of Rs 12.5 Crore against establishment of Govt. College at Doimukh. However, the Education Department had clarified that Rs 12.5 crore is incorrect amount and only an amount of Rs. 2.00 crore for proposed construction of Govt. College of Doimukh stands sanctioned.

Pekhi filed an additional FIR with reference to a case no. 71/15/U/S 120(B) 384 of IPC registered with Police Station Itanagar, in which he alleged Taloh and his OSD Dr. Ranjan for misusing official capacity in corrupt practice and criminal conspiracy to obtain bribe by awarding work order illegally. The complainant also claimed that during the course of ‘sting operation’ one arrested accused Dubi Ete Lollen disclosed that she used to receive 10 percent amount of the total value of the work awarded, on behalf of the Minister Education and charges 3% percent as liaisoning charge.

Addressing the media persons, APPDSU President Teli Duli Camdir demanded the resignation of Education Minister on moral ground and also urged the Chief Minister to drop Taloh from the council of ministers. Saying that they have lost faith in the police department, APPDSU President also demanded the state government to institute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct impartial enquiry into the whole episode. The district students union also demanded for immediate arrest of the OSD to Education Minister Dr. Ranjan and other two accused, that are yet to be arrested. The union also demanded the government to dissolve District Vigilance Monitoring Committee (DVMC) alleging that one of accused introduced herself as member of DVMC.

APPDSU General Secretary Nabam Gandhi alleged that the police is reluctant to act upon the second FIR of Tana Pekhi as the involvement of Education Minister Tapang Taloh is slowly emerging out.

“How come a copy of voice recorded CD provided to police by the complainant after a sting operation reached at Education Minister’s hand” questioned the GS. He further added that officially the CD was never given to anybody other than the police. APPDSU threatened to launch agitation if the government fails to fulfill their demands within ten days.

ANSU declares 24 hours Capital bandh, demands Byaling’s resignation

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: Agitated with the state government’s adamant stand on the pre-paid meter issue, All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) today declared 24 hours Capital bandh as the second phase of its agitation. However, ANSU did not disclose the date of bandh. With this standoff between ANSU and the state government continued, the union maintained that it would launch rigorous movement until the state government addressed its demand.

In a press conference today, ANSU President Byabang Joram stated that the government had fooled us by giving verbal assurance to fulfill our demand. “So far the government has not responded to our demand, so we have decided to go ahead with the second phase of agitation in the form of bandh call” said the ANSU President. Terming breach of trust, Joram stated that they have waited enough thinking that government will fulfill its promise.

Condemning the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities Prevention Act 2014, the ANSU president said that, it targets the students’ organisations. ANSU President further demanded the resignation of Home Minister Tanga Byaling who is also the Power Minister on moral grounds. ANSU General Secretary Nyanya Gollo maintained that ANSU has taken consideration to the ensuing examinations of colleges and the university students. Gollo added that the proposed bandh would not hamper the career of the students. Saying that the pre-paid meter issue is not an individual issue, he also appealed the common people to support the union in its movement. ANSU has been demanding for the scrapping of the installation of Pre-Paid Meter in Capital Complex. On 5th February 2015, the government had given choices to the people to install PPEM or to continue with the usual billing.

Just before the conclusion of the press conference, the ANSU executive members made a narrow escape from the Press Club back door today. More than 20 policemen had surrounded the front gate of the APC to detain the union’s members, but the ANSU members getting the cue made the quick escape. Expressing serious concern on the district administration attempt to arrest them as preventive detention ahead of the 24 hours bandh call, ANSU President Byabang Joram and Nyanya Gollo have vehemently condemned the move.

Govt. urged to launch state-wide fire awareness camp

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: Taking serious note of frequent fire mishaps in different parts of the state, Leader of Opposition Tamiyo Taga appealed to the state government to launch state-wide awareness camps to educate public for fire preparedness.

The MLA said this while visiting the victims of yesterday’s fire mishaps at Tumbin village under Kaying circle.

Electric short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire which gutted 13 houses within half-an-hour, informed Adi Bane Kebang, West Siang unit. Taga personally met all the affected families and provided cash assistance and other relief materials. He also urged the state government to provide necessary assistance to the victims for their quick rehabilitation.

Kaying EAC and Payum CO have also provided them with some cash assistance and food as immediate relief.

Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) West Siang unit led by its president Taling Yaying also rushed to the spot and distributed relief materials to the victims.

Kaying Payum Area Development Committee (KPADC) also distributed relief materials to the victims.

Booming against the stereotypes, Gurukul of Audio Grammar opens

Treading a new path against the established flow has always been an uphill task everywhere and is not for the faint hearted. And in a state and place like Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh it could be more daunting and a crazy thing. Mibom Tayeng a.k.a DJ Bomb, formerly DJ Bom, is one among that inimitable youth brigade which is present in every generation.

First things first, DJ means Disc Jockey and is a person who mixes recorded music for an audience. For people revelling the music scene here in Itanagar since past few years, DJ Bomb has become someone not to be missed. Coming back to Arunachal in 2013 from Chennai, DJ Bomb has been playing almost every weekend in the smoky pubs here and has a fan following of a kind.

Now, the latest offering from DJ Bomb is the ‘Gurukul of Audio Grammar’, a first of its kind of DJ academy right here at Itanagar. The DJ school or DJ coaching centre was formally launched on Saturday. And to mark the event, a host of DJs lined up to perform at ‘The Green Street’ on Saturday evening with DJ Bomb winding up the act. The other DJs who showcased their beats and mixes were DJ Freak, DJ Illusive Sam, DJ Rohit and DJ Brahmin.

During a press interview in 2013, DJ Bomb had enthusiastically expressed his plan of opening a DJ school at Itanagar. ‘Keeping up to the demands of the new wave of youngsters and to share the knowledge of DJying, the opening of the academy was natural’, shared the DJ.

And on the home front, he discloses that, “I knew what it takes to be a DJ when your parents plan something else for you. The most challenging part of everything is when you juggle between two things. But I feel that I have overcome the worst part. My parents expects me to be an Engineer and I am very much aware of that fact, but I am consciously not thinking of it or letting it get to me. I want to do something different. My guru said, ‘Be an engineer during the weekdays, and a great DJ on weekends’.

And on the record, DJ Bomb picked up DJying professionally while studying civil engineering at Chennai in the late 2000s. Dabbling into the DJying scene at Chennai and mixing local Adi songs with new beats, DJ Bomb’s mixes became popular and slowly a listeners’ base grew for his music. Equipped with the basic knowledge of DJying, he participated in competitions and has won quite a few laurels including the Best Newcomer Artist (DJ) at the War of DJs 2012 Chennai. He was also the Chennai finalist for the Nokia India Fest Turning Tables DJ Competition organized by Channel V and secured the runners up in the final event in Goa 2013.

BSNL condemns arrest of officials

ITANAGAR, Mar 28: The BSNL authority has condemned in its strongest term the alleged illegal arrest of its two officers, the SDO (Telecom), Seppa and Account Officer(TR), BSNL, Itanagar, suomoto by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Seppa, for no fault of theirs.

According to a press statement from SDE (Mktg), Itanagar, “a notice was issued to both the BSNL officials directing them to appear before the CJM Court, Seppa on March 27 for hearing a matter related to telephone bill disputes failing which warrant of arrest will be issued. Abiding by the court order, both the BSNL officials attended the court yesterday. But the CJM without hearing the matter arrested both the officials and took them into judicial custody”.

Claiming that no opportunity was given to BSNL officers duo for explaining the matter, the press statement termed it as a clear case of human rights violation. The booking of the case under section 190 Cr.PC amounting to offense U/S 177/188/420/511 is also not tenable in the eye of law, as all the telephone bill disputes are to be settled under S.7-B of Indian Telegraph Act as per the judgment of Supreme Court, it said, adding that BSNL has set up procedures for settling any telephone bill dispute which could have been adopted.

“BSNL is the lone telecom service provider in the state which is providing telecom services across the state even in the remotest part. It is already struggling in maintaining the telecom services against all odds in spite of acute man-power shortage. This kind of un-warranted harassment will discourage the entire BSNL working forces, the release added.

JN College students stage dharna against alleged stipend discrepancy

PASIGHAT, Mar 28: Hundreds of students of Jawarlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat today staged dharna in front of college academic office, shouting slogans in support of their demands to maintain transparency in the payment of students’ stipend.

The protesters demanded the college authority to publish a white-paper on payment of stipend and also furnish them with the original sanction letter containing students’ list approved by the concerned directorate. They have also demanded the college authority to disclose about remaining amount of ‘College Week Fund’ and utilization of ‘College Development Fund’ for the current year.

The protesters started the dharna in the form of procession from college auditorium (lower campus) which culminated at academic office at Upper Campus.

The college Principal responding to a news item published in this daily clarified that unequal distribution of the stipend is happening due to various norms for distributing it. According to him, students with higher percentage of marks (60% and above) in the qualifying (previous) examination have been awarded higher amount of stipend. As such, book grant for honours students is more than of pass course students.

But the Students’ Union functionaries observed that some students, who secured less percentage of marks, have been allotted larger amount than students securing higher percentage (without honours) of mark in the same class.

Moreover, names of many eligible students and their bank account numbers were found misplaced in the approved stipend lists.

The union, in a representation submitted to the college Principal demanded him to ensure stipend for the students those who have appeared in special examination. It also demanded the authority not to take the ‘percentage of attendance’ as criteria for awarding stipend, because the authority miserably fails to provide necessary sitting arrangement for the students. As such, no teacher-student ratio has also been maintained in the college to ensure regular attendance.

The union has cautioned the college authority of more rigorous protest movement in the coming days if their demands are not fulfilled within next seven days.
